Autism Salutes Senator Mel Martinez!!!

Our Retired United Stated Armed Forces Members, their spouses, and their children with autism are saluting again!

Senator Mel Martinez! Autism Salutes YOU!!!

Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) has introduced the Senate companion of Congressman Moran and Congressman Miller’s Bill, which would extend the Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) program benefits to our retired military members’ children with autism, allowing them to receive medically necessary treatment.

Our retired military members who served our great nation currently do not even have the option of enrolling their child (ren), in the Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) program. With retirement, the hope that their child with autism might be able to receive treatment simply vanishes into thin air. The message sent? After your honorable service to our country; your child with autism is no longer worthy of the benefits available to active duty military dependents with autism.

That message and reality is, quite frankly, unconscionable.

Our men and women who have answered the call to duty, and served this great nation of ours, should not have to choose between retirement and beginning or continued medically necessary treatment for their children with autism.

“A society will be judged by how it treats its weakest members, not its strongest ones.”
Alexis De Tocqueville

Senator Mel Martinez not only understands this, he has taken action! Thank you Senator Martinez! You are a great American!

You can read the Bill introduced by Senator Martinez in the Documents Section on the left. Senator Martinez Bill.
